Spirometry is the most common of the pulmonary function tests (PFTs), measuring lung function, specifically the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. Spirometry is an important tool used for generating pneumotachographs, which are helpful in assessing conditions such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and COPD.

• Helps determine if an individual is "cleared" to wear a particular type of respirator by precisely measuring certain lung expiration characteristics.
Detects both obstructions (a prolonging of airflow during expiration) and restrictions (inability to fully expand the lungs).
Clears those employees with a breathing ability that falls into the normal range based on age, weight, gender, height and overall health.

Spirometry is not always an OSHA requirement, but providing it is both prudent and cost effective. There is no other test that is as accurate for determining your employees current lung functioning and is a vital part of your medical surveillance documentation. Employers prefer to conduct this spirometry tests for
initial screening, replacement , or fit-for-duty examinations of workers. Our spirometry testing services are utilized in conjunction with our respirator medical evaluation / clearance.
